Gene got a job offer in Carson City, Nevada for a heck of a lot more money than he's making out here. That, combined with my inability to find employment, rendered the decision easy to make. Here's how our holiday went.
Gene gets the job offer via letter (after only one telephone interview!) the first week of December. He starts Jan 4th! Holy cow!
Gene left by car, on Christmas Eve, to make the drive across the country with the ferret and cat. The baby and I left 3:00 am on Christmas day for the Jacksonville airport. We stayed in St. George UT for 3 days with Gene's Mother and 2 with his brother. Gene arrived to join us the day after Christmas. The baby and I left New Year's Eve to come back to Georgia.
The next day, the baby runs a high enough temp to scare me enough to take her to the ER. We get in at 8:30 pm and leave at 3:30 am. Then, my family finishes helping me move out of the apartment. My dad has the flu at the time. Two days later, I have an ear infection. Then, I come down with the flu.
The trip (minus the plane rides) was an absolute blast. The week afterward was hell. Emeline and I are getting better, and Gene is getting settled in at his new job. Hopefully, getting our stuff and our selves moved out there won't take too long. I'm praying to find a temporary job to help speed the process along. But since my luck with the job market here has not been good, I am afraid we may just have to deal with the separation for awhile.

New job is good. But sorry you are having such a nasty time otherwise :( Things will get better!
