Don't even consider handing Emeline a tortilla chip that is not smothered in hummus.
She's loved the stuff since she was a baby, and will eat it by the spoonful. That's okay with me. I like it too, and use it in my cooking to add flavor without a lot of calories.
I tried it in college and fell in love with it. It makes a great spread for vegetarian sandwiches. Lately, for lunch I toast chickpeas and mushrooms in the oven and top it with hummus. Of course, it goes great with chicken or scrambled eggs.
It's a random thing to post about, but since we are on a tight grocery budget, I am always thankful for food that tastes good! Bonus if it is relatively healthy.

mmmmmm...hummus...I love it, too. Emeline has good taste! I'm the only one in my house with a taste for it. Do you have a good recipe for homemade? I can never seem to make it just right. There's this Mediterranean restaurant in town that makes the most unbelievable hummus, which means it's probably not healthy at all!
My attempts in the past failed because the tahini from the store was so bitter. A good food processor would help, too. I wish I had a good recipe. Maybe your kids will like it as they get older. Emeline is... unusual.
I refuse to believe hummus can ever be unhealthy!
