Spring Fever is Real

February has never been my favorite month. For some reason, I usually escape winter without much illness, but almost without fail the flu hits me in February. The extreme temperature fluctuations in my new home state make March another despised month. Someone in my family was sick the whole month! The shift from winter to spring is so much more dramatic than in southern Georgia, and everyone seems to go insane. That includes myself. The old people come out of hibernation and are back on the roads driving badly.

It's cold and windy (oh, did I mention the hurricane force winds that come with Spring?) but overall April is treating us better than the last few months.

Emeline is growing and learning all the time, and always presenting new discipline challenges. There are few hard and fast rules with her- I have to consider each incident and her unique personality. Bless your heart, you mothers of two, three, four, or more!

Gene mentioned that the State is considering more pay cuts and it worries me, but I try to remember that he is lucky to have a job at all. It seems ever since he graduated and started working there are always the not too distant threats of pay cuts and lay offs looming over his head. So far we have been very fortunate and take things day by day with a spirit of gratitude for what we have. Subbing jobs are not the easiest to come by these days, and each one I get is a blessing. I've received a few more rejection notices from jobs I've applied to recently. Oh, well. Add it to the huge pile and keep going. I suppose the bright side is that Emeline gets more time with her mother, and maybe that is what she needs right now.

You might like to know that plastic utensils do indeed burn. Not a good way to look cool when your husband is on the phone with your in-laws.

Emeline watched a cartoon featuring Tai Chi. It is something she likes to do now. Her imitation of it is fairly impressive.
