Emeline is 4

It's hard to believe. It's harder to accept. Emeline is four. When we were in the midst of colic, it was impossible to imagine even making it to her first birthday. Now the years seem to zoom by.

She got pretty decent treatment, I think. A very caring mom (yours truly) made cupcakes and brought them to her class. With homemade from scratch frosting, even. Then, the birthday girl got to go to various stores in Reno until she found just the right things. The girl is a serious shopper. Grandparents from both sides sent beautiful gifts. She also got treated to fast food of her choice (Wendy's) and a homemade cake with homemade butter cream frosting.

The cake tasted good but aesthetics-wise was unappealing. I must have a cake disability. No cake made with my hands ever turns out right.

She hates when I take pictures, so there aren't very many. Party planning is not a joy for me, so we haven't gone all out yet. The older she gets, the more opinionated she is about things so birthdays may become grander affairs.

Here is a recent picture, just because...

Wow, 4 already?! Time certainly does fly. Considering how convenient it is to buy cakes or even make them from mixes and canned frosting, it is very impressive that you did cupcakes and a cake from scratch! I'm horrible at the decorating aspect, too. They never look good! I hope Emeline had a wonderful birthday!
